Geometric presents

Hello everybody! I have found a challenge to make for students of Third grade of Primary Education (Fifth and Sixth Grade) because the activity requires time to think and to build the little object. It consists to make a dodecahedron with the calendar of the year with the months and days. It is a perfect detail to bring at home which will surprise your parents. It is needed to use art materials and especially be patient.

Art and Geometry

Hello everyone! Children love the visual activities and experiences, so art is obviously a subject which we can combine with Geometry. Students can use a sketch pad to make the artworks; felt-tip pens to draw and to colour, and scissors to cut the geometric figures in order to create the geometric artwork.

Manual Activities in relation with Geeometry

Good afternoon everyone!!! It is very good that students investigate and practice with new technologies making activities on the computer. However, coming back to the past and elaborate geometric figures in this case, with our hands, it is very fruitful. Here, I leave an activity which will be very interesting for kids to do. The aim is that with spaghettis and gummies, the students do a structure similar to a cube form.

Geometry games for children

Hello everybody again! Today, I want to express that I am a person that prefer that my students play traditional games at home instead of playing with computer games or being with new technologies all the time. For that reason, I want to let a webpage in which you will find twenty games to learn the geometric figures. It is recommendable for teachers to use these games in the classroom and for parents to use these games at home with their children. I leave here the link:  http://materialeseducativosparamaestras.blogspot.com/2018/02/juegos-aprender-figuras.html

Captain Invincible and the Space Shapes

Hello everyone! Most of children love adventure stories which are related to fantasy and let them play with their imagination. For that reason, learners would be very interesting in reading books with mix extraordinary stories with Geometry. It could as extra material to bring to school, because the book costs six euros more or less. I leave here the link of the webpage to buy the book and the cover image.  https://www.amazon.es/Captain-Invincible-Space-Shapes-MathStart/dp/0064467317?ref_=Oct_BSellerC_13356088031_0&pf_rd_r=QS6AHB1G7GYTD9WWKGXA&pf_rd_p=953fd6d4-d0d7-51ec-b6b2-6038ced4f74c&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-5&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=13356088031&pf_rd_m=A1AT7YVPFBWXBL

Cabri Geometry

Hello everybody! Apart from using GeoGebra, there are other online applications available for children to experiment with Geometry and also with other aspects and contents of Mathematics. It works especially the properties of the geometry of solid. This app which is called Cabri, I recommend it to use it with students from Third Cycle (Fifth and Sixth Grade of Primary Education). If a teacher downloads it, one month is free, so for a didactic unit serves. It is very useful to work software and computer activities with children inside the classroom and they can practice at home too with their parents. I leave here the link:  https://cabri.com/en/instructor/cabri-3d/

Geometry song

Hello everybody! We all know that children love to have fun singing and dancing, so with a song, it would be much easier for children to start getting some small knowledge about geometry and its basic concepts. I have found this song which lyrics are sung very quickly, so it is better for children who belong to the Third Cycle, Fifth Grade of Primary Education. There are several songs inside the same video enclosing different topics about Geometry. Teachers could play on this video in the classroom in order to catch students' attention.
